Sunday's Bread

Sunday’s Bread - October 28, Nov.25, Dec 30, Jan. 27 - we will send a team of 5-6 people to set up, cook, serve and clean up a meal for about 100 guests at St. John the Evangelist on Beacon Hill. We are there from 12:30-4:30 and go directly from church and rides are arranged. Please see or call Pat Howkinson (781-393-9176) if you’re interested in joining one of the teams.

Heartfelt thanks to Beverly and Shannon for being terrific team captains, for the UP group and J2A team respectively!

You can bring your donations to the United Parish or directly to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 15 St. Paul St.

Social Justice Taskforce

The Social Justice Taskforce, which is under the Board of Outreach, was instrumental in the passing of the Living Wage law in Brookline, and has raised funds for Doctors for Global Health to provide medical services in Chiapas, Mexico. Each year the group decides on priority projects.

The United Parish Service Board hosts the Sunday coffee hour after worship and other welcoming activities. The Service Board is always looking for volunteers to:

-Set up, serve at, and clean up after the Sunday coffee hour

-Bundle the altar flowers at the end of Sunday service

-Deliver the altar flowers to our shut-ins

-Provide office telephone and reception coverage for one hour before and 15 minutes after the Sunday service

Women's & Men's Association

The Women's and Men's Association bonds monthly through musical programs, travelogues, holiday parties and service projects. The Women's and Men's Association also holds a bake sale after church on the first Sunday of the month from September to June. All upcoming events are announced in the monthly newsletter and Sunday bulletin. For more information e-mail us.

Thrifty Threads

The United Parish established Thrifty Threads in February 1997 to provide a service to those in need of good quality, low cost clothing. Thrifty Threads also donates used clothing to many homeless shelters, including Rosie’s Place.

Shop hours:

-Fridays: 1-5 p.m.

-Saturdays: 12-5 p.m.

Income from sales is directed toward the operating budget of the church.

Volunteering at Thrifty Threads is a wonderful fellowship opportunity, and we are looking for volunteers to fill several time slots. To learn more, contact: Alice Cassidy.
