Emely Phelps Piano Recital
Wednesday, March 14 at 7pm. Please join us in the Sanctuary for a preview of Emely Phelps' solo piano doctoral recital. The recital features music of fantastic inventiveness - from some of Schubert's final piano works (his Drei Klaiverstücke, D. 946), to some of Scriabin's earliest piano works (his 24 preludes, Op. 11), to the Boston premiere of Nathan Hudson's Epiphany Canticles, written for Emely this year. A cornerstone of the recital program will be Donald Martino's 1981 masterpiece, Fantasies and Impromptus - a work inspired by Romantic lyricism and flights of fancy. Emely was a member of Trio Cleonice, which performed regularly in a truly unforgettable and musically unparalleled chamber series at the United Parish from 2014-2016. Emely was also a beloved member of the alto section in our Chancel Choir, and a member of the piano duo that accompanied our 2017 performance of Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem. We are so happy to have her come home and play for us once again. Emely is presenting this recital free of charge. The church will accept donations to help with the cost of maintaining our fabulous pianos. Contact Susan DeSelms at email@example.com.
