Around the Community: “Voices from the Border: A Cry For Justice” Immigration Presentation
The Brookline Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Community Relations is sponsoring a presentation on Wednesday, October 2, from 6-8pm in Room 103 at the Brookline Town Hall (355 Washington Street). Please join Human Rights Advocates, Jeanne Gallo and Sunny Robinson, for a presentation and discussion of current US immigration policy. Having been to the US-Mexico border in November 2018, they met with human rights workers, the families of the disappeared, DACA and other youth, as well as visited Annunciation House, in El Paso. Starting with an overview of U.S. involvement in Latin America, they will use the UN Declaration of Human Rights and the U.S.’s own asylum laws as the framework for how US immigration policy ought to and could be. This is a free event and open to anyone concerned about immigration. For more information, contact Caitlin Starr at firstname.lastname@example.org or 617-730-2345.
