Earth Day Movie Screening - April 22

Please join members of GreenUP in the Parlor on Earth Day, Friday April 22 for pizza and a movie. We will be screening the 2015 documentary Merchants of Doubt.  Based on the book of the same name by historians of science Naomi Oreskes and Erik Conway, the book tells the tales of how a small number of politically connected scientists worked over four decades to mislead the public on topics ranging from the deadly effects of smoking to the global threat of climate change.  Come see the movie that has been described as:

  • "Provocative and improbably entertaining" - Wall St Journal
  • "Informative and infuriating" - NYTimes
  • "A Brisk, Engrossing Portrait of Enviro-Spin" - Washington Post

Teens are welcome and encouraged to come.  The movie may not be appropriate for children under 13.  There is some brief use of offensive language, and some of the scientists in the film read threatening emails that they have received.

So come, be informed, entertained, engrossed and infuriated, all while you enjoy yummy pizza and snacks.  Stay afterward and tell us what you think!  Pizza @ 6:30pm and movie @ 7:00pm.  We look forward to seeing you.

All are welcome to join us @ 6:30 for pizza before the movie begins @ 7:00pm.
