This autumn, we are reflecting in worship on the same stories the youngest among us are discussing in Church School, going through the Bible from the beginning.
From our series, Living the Word:
God created humans to be in relationship with their Creator and blessed them with all they would need. Desiring the best for us, God regularly calls us back into relationship and invites imperfect people to be part of God’s beautiful story of redemption. This relationship with God requires trust, and often challenges us to step out in this trust. When God calls, God also provides all that is needed to live faithfully as a blessing to others.
Last week we heard about the dramatic calling of Moses to liberate his people and heard our own member Kate reflect on how she felt called to step into her discomfort zone.
Fast forward a few chapters and years in the Bible and Moses has to deal with his grumbling people as they wandered in the wilderness. They longed for the old days when they were in captivity in Egypt (Exodus 16:1-18).
Do you ever feel like you’re wandering in the wilderness?
Or that our country, our world is wandering in the wilderness?
What kind of grumbling are you hearing?
You’re not alone.
On Sunday we will reflect on how God provided for the tired, complaining, frustrated people during their wilderness years. It’s the story of the manna from heaven and quail from the sky. I’ll invite us to consider what manna and quail God is currently providing us and are we awake to notice it. We will also delve into how this story relates to the work of our Mental Health Awareness Team.
As always, I look forward to delving into these important life questions together. As we heard last week, we are stronger together.
In faith,
Kent
