REMINDER: Worship begins at 10am in the Sanctuary this Sunday, followed directly by our June All-Parish Meeting.
For four years, we’ve been grappling with the expensive reality of what it means to stay in our big, beautiful building in the bustling neighborhood of Coolidge Corner, a place that our Baptist, Congregationalist and Methodist forebears chose over 180 years ago. It’s been intimidating, daunting. At times, our path and direction has felt desultory, slow-moving. It’s also been exciting, challenging, full of possibility. It’s helped us clarify purpose, think and dream creatively, and build oodles of goodwill in the wider community around us.
Our congregation is definitely at a pivot point in its history, a moment at least as important as when the three congregations merged 56 years ago to become this “joyful, ecumenical experiment.” Our mission is expanding as is our understanding of our role in the world around us.
The good news is, we are gaining momentum, the result of months and years of thoughtful deliberation and prayerful discernment.
On Sunday, we will celebrate all of this forward movement in our 10am worship in the Sanctuary, followed with strawberry shortcake and reporting in about our progress and forward trajectory at our June All-Parish meeting.
We invite you to come and bear witness to this Good News. Stay for as long as you can. God is moving among us in dynamic and powerful ways, unforeseen for many of us. It is a privilege and a great responsibility to help God move forward the mission of United Parish.
In faith,
Kent
