Good News: Recovery from Depression

This summer’s worship series features members and friends Reporting the Good News, however they see it in the world around them. We look to Jesus’ inaugural sermon (Luke 4:14-19) and Isaiah 61 for our guidance about what God’s kind of Good News looks like: liberation for all of us. Summer worship is at 10am in Willett Hall.

This week we hear from longtime member, Louise, who is generously sharing her story of depression, recovery, and the role that United Parish has played in bringing the Good News to life for her. Louise writes,

“People here at United Parish played an important part in my healing as
they followed Jesus’ inclusive practices. Jesus didn’t say to the woman at
the well or the tax collector, ‘you can come with me after you’ve been doing
things right’. Jesus didn’t say to the leper, ‘you can be with me when you are
healed’. Jesus didn’t say to me, ‘you can be part of my family once you have recovered’.

Jesus said, ‘Louise, you are part of my family now’. This is what
people here at United Parish demonstrated for me.”

Join us on Sunday morning in Willett Hall and online to sing, pray, and hear Louise report the Good News!

In faith,

Amy
