This summer’s worship series features members and friends Reporting the Good News, however they see it in the world around them. We look to Jesus’ inaugural sermon (Luke 4:14-19) and Isaiah 61 for our guidance about what God’s kind of Good News looks like: liberation for all of us. Summer worship is at 10am in Willett Hall.
This week we hear from member Deborah, who will share the Good News of how she grew her awareness of the moments when we encounter heaven here on earth. Deborah writes,
What is your view of heaven? Do you think about it? Is it a big part of your faith? I posed those questions to a small group in my former church. Each person responded that heaven barely entered their thoughts…
My hope for all of us is that when we pray “thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven” that we are blessed with the assurance of Grace, freely given, unearned, a gift from God. My life is no longer spent striving for perfection so that I get rewarded when I die. I believe in a heavenly life-after-life, I just expand it to life-NOW-life.
