God’s Promises: Living Faithfully

God’s Promises: This autumn, we’re learning alongside the youngest among us in Church School. We look at the early characters of the Hebrew scriptures and how God’s promises bring hope for the future, with guidelines on how to love God and love others in ways that bring life and hope to all.

Joshua was a dynamic leader in the early part of the Israelites’ story. Born into slavery, he started as an assistant and protégé of Moses, working as spy, scout, warrior, and advisor. When Moses died, Joshua assumed leadership of the people at age 85. He has an entire history book devoted to him in the Bible.

I’ve never preached on Joshua before and I may need your help as we look at this last chapter of his life (Joshua 24). He reminds the people of God’s faithfulness, help, and encouragement throughout their history and the kind of loyalty that requires of them going forward.

Something I’d like you to think about in advance of worship:
-how do you experience God in your life?
-how has God been good to you during your lifetime?
-what does that goodness require of you or compel you to do?

This is also one of our Mental Health Sundays, in which we will focus on what helps ground each of us in our own mental/soulful health.

Come Sunday to remember, to connect, to re-ground yourself.

In faith,
Kent
