Katy grew up in Attleboro, Massachusetts and has been working with young children since she was 15 in a variety of settings, starting as a karate instructor in high school and then working as a teaching aide in elementary classrooms her junior and senior year. She graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education from Lesley University in 2020 and is currently working on her graduate degree in education at Tufts University, specializing in anti-racist teaching methods and freedom and justice based education. She has been working in the Nursery at the United Parish since 2019 and has been deeply appreciative of the community and care she has found at the church.
Katy currently resides in Brighton. During the week she works as a teacher in a Reggio Emilia inspired preschool. In her work with young children she centers love, justice, and the importance caring for one another. In her free time Katy enjoys reading, exploring Boston’s restaurant scene, and spending time with her two cats Teddy and Lily.
