Holy Week at United Parish

We warmly invite you to join us for Holy Week worship.

Maundy Thursday, 7pm
Our Maundy Thursday worship commemorates the Last Supper and Jesus’ command to his disciples to “love one another as I have loved you” (“maundy” is derived from the Latin mandatum meaning “command”), as well as Jesus’ betrayal and arrest. Remembering that Judas received 30 pieces of silver for his act of betrayal, we remember the people that we have betrayed. In that spirit, we will collect an offering for the LUCE Immigrant Justice Network of MA. During worship, we welcome all people to partake in Holy Communion, which we serve in groups of 12 at a shared table.
Good Friday, 7pm
Our Good Friday worship is a solemn commemoration of the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ as told through Jesus’ last words, accompanied by contemporary images, poetry, and music. The term “Good Friday” harkens back to a time when “good” meant “holy” or “pious”.  During this Tenebrae (Latin for “darkness” or “shadows”) service we gradually extinguish candles and the light in the Sanctuary, until we conclude our worship in darkness.
Saturday Easter Egg Hunt, 9-11am in our Memorial Park
The morning offers egg hunts for younger children, games and crafts for all ages, and coffee and fellowship for parents and caregivers! All are welcome to this eggstravaganza! Last year we had around 300! children and families. This is a great way to get to know our neighbors and invite them into our community.
Easter Sunday, April 5

We begin with Children’s Church, 9:30-10am in the Sanctuary, intended for toddlers through elementary-aged children and their families, that includes song, movement, prayer, activity, a children’s message, and lots of fun!

Please join us for our Potluck Brunch in Willett Hall anytime between 9:45-11am and bring a favorite brunch item to share. We will spend the time feasting in celebration of our United Parish family and the Day of Resurrection. With your dish, please also bring a note for display of any common allergenic foods it includes. We look forward to celebrating with you. We are also looking for some extra volunteers to help with setup and cleanup. Please contact gathering@upbrookline.org.

Easter Festival Worship, 11am in the Sanctuary and YouTube, starting with a prelude from our Handbell Choir and featuring our Chancel and Children’s Choirs and trumpet.

Bring your friends and family. All are welcome!
