Jazz Sanctuary is a community-driven concert series bringing exceptional jazz and creative music into the historic sanctuary of United Parish in Brookline. Now in its second season, the series presents five concerts each year, bringing together music, community, and the unique space and acoustics of the sanctuary to invite deeper listening, reflection, and connection.
At its heart is a commitment to artistic quality, discovery, and the spirit of jazz in its broadest sense – music that is alive, searching, improvisational, and created in the moment. The series brings together some of Boston’s leading jazz musicians alongside distinctive emerging voices, with programming ranging from original compositions to music drawing on spiritual, folk, global, and other creative traditions. We welcome music that engages with the world around us – exploring questions of identity, spirituality, social justice, and our shared human experience.
Jazz Sanctuary is rooted in the belief that exceptional live music should be open and accessible to all members of the community. Operating on a “pay what you can” admission model, the series removes financial barriers while creating meaningful encounters between artists and audiences.
Audience contributions directly support the performing artists and fund the revitalization of United Parish’s magnificent sacred space as a haven for live music, community gatherings, and worship.
