GBIO Housing Justice Campaign

Many of you know that the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO), the faith-based coalition of some 60 church, synagogues and temples working for housing justice in Massachusetts, is organizing several meetings with our state senators and representatives to seek their commitments to the legislative actions we are campaigning for — better public housing, more affordable housing, and housing for persons returning from incarceration.

We have great momentum on our campaign with strong support announced by Gov. Maura Healey for GBIO’s proposals in October, and we need now to take our case to the legislature. Join us for one of the 14 meetings GBIO is holding with state senators and representative — see below.

You can read about our Housing Justice Campaign on the attached 2-page description.

Most of us at United Parish live in the district of State Sen. Cynthia Creem (Brookline and Newton), and that meeting is set for 7pm on January 29, at Union Church Waban, at 14 Collins Road in Newton.  Also attending will be Reps Ruth Balser (Brookline and Newton), Kay Khan (Newton), and Alice Poesch (Wellesley). It’s a ways off, but we want to get those planning to come to register early, as it helps GBIO’s planning. You can register here.

There are United Parish folks living  in the districts of Senators from Brighton/Allston, Somerville, and Waltham whose meetings are coming up soon.

If you live in Brighton/Allston, register here to meet with Sen. William Brownsberger (7pm, Dec 12, Beth El Temple Center in Belmont).

If you live in Somerville, register here to meet with Sen. Patricia Jehlen (7pm, Dec 12, at Reservoir Church in Cambridge).

And if you live in Waltham or Weston, register here to meet with Sen. Michael Barrett (7pm, Jan 10, Hancock Church in Lexington).

And others are coming with senators from Cambridge and from other Boston neighborhoods. We will let you know as they are arranged.

GBIO is a wonderful way to experience the joy of working with others for positive change. Join us!

Thank you.
