Church School (Pre-K through 12th grade)

The United Parish church school provides a safe, secure and fun environment to nurture each child’s God-given gifts, from preschool through high school seniors. In partnership with parents and clergy, the church school program helps children and youth develop Christian values, foster respect for different people and perspectives, and plant the seeds of God’s word in their hearts and minds so that they may grow and become leaders in the church, community and world.

Church School meets at 9:45am before worship in our second floor classrooms, where students learn Bible basics, stories from the Christian tradition, and explore some of the Big Questions of our faith in age-appropriate ways.

They learn stories, eat a snack, do crafts, and learn about how to “take care, show respect, and give love.” After class, children are welcome to attend worship or spend time in the Nursery (up to age 5).

Elementary (1st-5th Grade)

Our Elementary class meets during the Church School hour (9:45-10:45am) and follows the Current: Seeking Peace Together curriculum. In class, students learn stories, play games or do crafts, and begin thinking about some of the Big Questions of faith.

Middle School (6th – 8th Grade)

Our Middle School class meets during the Church School hour (9:45-10:45am) and follows an aged-up version of the Current: Seeking Peace Together curriculum. Periodically throughout the year, our Middle and High School students join together for service activities during church school, after worship, or other times during the week. Each year includes a special Rite 13 celebration for our 8th graders.

High School (9th – 12th grade)

Our High School class meets during the Church School hour (9:45-10:45am) and follows an aged-up version of the Current: Seeking Peace Together curriculum. Periodically throughout the year, our Middle and High School students join together for service activities during church school, after worship, or other times during the week.

Confirmation (10th Grade)

Our confirmands meet in their own class during the church school hour (9:45-10:45am) in preparation for the confirmation process in the late winter/early spring. The process culminates with a special worship that celebrates and blesses the confirmands’ faith journeys, including a rite of confirmation for the confirmands who have so chosen.
