On Tuesday, July 29th there will be a vigil at Boston City Hall Plaza to raise awareness and provide support for immigrants on the Temporary Protection Status program or TPS. President Trump has rescinded the program. The result is that thousands of immigrants from Venezuela, Haiti, Hondurus, Nepal, and Nicaragua have or will lose their right to live and work in the USA. They entered legally and have committed no crime but are now being deported. Over 1 million people are being affected. Last Sunday we heard from Wendy, an immigration lawyer who has spent her career working to protect immigrants and developing a fair immigration policy. In her talk she told us how we can help temper and reverse the attack on immigrants which we are witnessing in our country today. Artificial Intelligence and Our Faith: A Religious Education Session What might Christian theologians and a careful reading of Scripture have to teach us about the ethical (dis)use of artificial intelligence? As we enter our new fiscal year, we have been faced with the very sad reality that funds for feeding those in need have been decreased by millions of dollars. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) was recently ordered to significantly reduce funding The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). Massachusetts food banks alone are facing a cancellation of $3.5 million worth of anticipated food items. This translates to a potential 30% drop in free and reduced price foods from The Greater Boston Food Bank who is our primary supplier.
