GBIO Teach-In

“Not With My Money” GBIO Teach-in—Countering Citizens Bank Financing of ICE Facilities

Join us on Sunday, April 26 at 12:30pm in the Parlor.

GBIO has recently launched a new campaign to highlight Citizens Bank’s $900 million of financial backing of corporations operating ICE detention facilities and seek to pressure the bank to withdraw from this agreement. The corporations, CoreCivic and the GEO Group, together operate around 40,000 detention beds for ICE on top of the 75,000 additional beds in their own private prisons.

GBIO is organizing our community to tell Citizens Bank that we won’t stand behind institutions that facilitate these human rights abuses, especially those that seek to profit off the industry of ripping families and communities apart. We have already identified more than $8 million of deposits from members of GBIO institutions and are looking for more pledges to withdraw deposits from Citizens Bank if they ignore our demands.

If you are interested in learning more about this campaign, join us after church on Sunday, April 26 in the Parlor, for a teach-in about where the campaign is at and how you can get involved.
