Adults

“We want to equip ourselves and the children among us for life-long spiritual journeys. We find meaningful encounters with God and each other in worship, prayer, study, dialogue in small groups, and other spiritual practices.”

From the United Parish Vision adopted by the Congregation in 2009

These words frame our approach to adult education at United Parish. We gather together as a way of strengthening our bonds to God, one another and the world, and as a way of sustaining ourselves on our respective life journeys. Bible studies, book groups, meditation classes, prayer retreats, seasonal exploration and discussion groups are just some of the ways we have engaged the ancient truths of our faith and the contemporary issues of the day. Our goal is never to find a single right answer, for short of God none exists. Rather we ask questions that are on our minds, delve deeper into the mysteries held by our hearts, and find new ways to engage our whole lives. Whether you are a scholar of the sacred or new to the faith, we invite you to participate!

Bible Study

In each of our denominations, the Bible is a touchstone and foundation for how we understand God and the workings of God in our world. We are committed to becoming more intimately connected to the Good Book: understanding both the context in which it was written as well as its meaning for our lives and our journey today.

Study Groups

Small group studies and book discussions are offered periodically throughout the year. Often there is a study series during Advent and Lent; book discussions happen throughout the year. These groups offer the opportunity to get to know others in a small group setting, to dive deeper into our Christian faith, and to exchange ideas.
